Bicycling and Walking Facilities
Ideally, Bicycling and Walking Facilities should comprise a network of non-motorized
transportation infrastructure facilities, including sidewalks, bicycle lanes,
and pedestrian and bicycle trails, that connect directly with transit stations,
schools, residences, businesses, recreation areas, and other community activity
centers.
Bikeability Checklist
Some communities
are more bikeable than others. Can you get where you want to go by bicycle? Did
you have a place to bicycle safely; how was the surface that you rode on; how
were the intersections that you rode through? Complete the Bikeability Checklist
prepared by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center to find out.
Walkability Checklist
Some communities
are more walkable than others. Can you get where you want to go on foot? Did
you have room to walk; Was it easy to cross streets; was your walk pleasant?
Complete the Walkability Checklist prepared by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information
Center to find out.
Facilities Planning
Trailnet is actively working with communities across
the bi-state region to plan and develop bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Visit our Community Planning section to learn more about our Bicycle / Pedestrian Facilities
Planning Services
These facilities have been shown to increase the frequency of bicycling and
walking, and promote better health and a cleaner environment.
